About Us

Welcome to our family table! Located in the vibrant town of San Pedro, Belize, our restaurant brings together the bold, colorful flavors of Mexico with the rich, soulful tastes of the Caribbean. As a proud family-owned business, every dish we serve is rooted in tradition, crafted with love, and inspired by the cultures that shaped us.

From hand-pressed tortillas and slow-cooked stews to island spices and the freshest local seafood, we serve up comfort, flavor, and a true taste of home. Whether you’re a local or visiting our beautiful island, you’re always welcome at our table — where every meal feels like a celebration.

Our Story

Caliente began with a simple idea: to bring people together over bold flavors, cold drinks, and warm island hospitality. What started as a beachfront kitchen in 2000 has grown into a San Pedro favorite — still family-owned, still full of heart, and now thriving in a beautiful sunset-view location on Back Street.

Our roots run deep — not just in the flavors of Mexico and the Caribbean, but in the story of a local island girl with a big dream of owning a business. My grandparents always reminded me that nothing comes easy — that if you want something in life, you have to work hard for it. That lesson stuck with me, and it’s shaped who I am today.
In 2008, I came on board when a close friend, more like a sister, bought Caliente and asked me to manage it. After five unforgettable years, she offered me the chance to take over. I was young, unsure of myself, and scared — but she believed in me, and eventually, I did too. In 2013, I became the proud owner of Caliente.

Caliente has grown with the hands and hearts of my family. My brother Amelio, our head chef, has been with Caliente since day one. My husband Joel joined a year after I took over, bringing with him over a decade of experience as a server. Together, we’ve poured our hearts into this place — building not just a restaurant, but a legacy for our children, Darian and Grace.

Our menu celebrates fresh local seafood, vibrant spices, and generations-old recipes. Every dish is made with love, every margarita is poured strong, and every guest is treated like family. We’re proud to be one of the few locally owned businesses that have stood the test of time on the island — and even prouder to keep that spirit alive every single day.

Thank you for being part of our journey. We hope you feel the love in every bite.
